National Urban Fellows 40^th Anniversary Leadership Conference, "40 Years: Past, Present and Future Leadership” which was held January 17-23 at the Madison Hotel in Washington, D.C. The week-long event brought together a number of notable leaders for discussion on various policy issues as well as for social and professional networking. Guest speakers included: NAACP President, Benjamin Jealous; Congressman and Majority Whip, James E. Clyburn; Mayor Cory A. Booker of Newark, NJ; Cristina López, President of the National Hispaña Leadership Institute; EPA Administrator, Lisa Jackson, CNN Correspondent Jamal Simmons, Journalist and Social Activist, Jeff Johnson; Wade Henderson, President of the Leadership Council on Civil and Human Rights; and many other elected officials and leadership experts.

The conference was attended by approximately 350 guests and received national television coverage from C-SPAN.
